I am so excited I have finally pulled my finger out and got some crafty ideas back on the blog. It feels like it has been a VERY long time since that has happened and guess what it’s all Christmas themed. I have 4 very special projects coming over the next month to share with you and inspire you in preparation for Christmas.

This DIY Christmas Advent Wreath is so very easy to make and really it makes the perfect Christmas craft because it is SUPER simple and easy and not time consuming. I mean this time is busy enough without adding a layer of complicated Christmas craft on top of the busyness. Once November hit I feel like my calendar exploded with so many activities, parties, end of year gatherings, and lot’s and lots’of school stuff that makes my head explode every time I get a new note home from school letting me know of something else I have to remember and/or fit into my calendar.

Anyway if you a like me and want to inject some Christmas in your home without the fuss and stress then this DIY Christmas Advent Wreath is for you. Let’s jump straight into making it.

Materials:

  • 450mm Quilting Hoop

  • Faux hanging foliage

  • Brown paper bag

  • Printed numbers 1-25 {You can find the downloadable PDF further in the post}

  • Advent story cards { I simply googled free advent story cards and printed them off}

  • Chocolates or small prizes

  • Jute string

Tools

  • Hot Glue Gun

  • Scissors

  • Sticky tape

  • Hole punch

If you want a little hand in creating the wreath check out the video version of this tutorial above to see the project put together in full. The instructions below are a little more in depth if you want the finer details.

1. Attach Foliage: Snip the ends of the foliage with tin snips to remove any thick ends off the plastic foliage. Place the faux foliage onto the quilting hoop starting from the center of the hoop working outwards on each side. Attach the foliage to the hoop using the Hot Glue Gun. Press into place as you work your way along and let the glue dry before moving on. I then glued down any pieces of the foliage that was loose and would stick out or droop when hung on the wall.

2. Prep Advent Bags: Cut out the numbers for the advent bags and stick to the front of the brown paper bags. Place a chocolate or prize into the numbered bags along with the corresponding advent story cards. Wrap the bag up into a small parcel and hold into place with sticky tape. Punch a hole using the hole punch in the corners or middle of the bags and set aside.

3. Assemble: Cut lengths of jute string and attach through the hole in each advent bag. Attach the bags to the base of the foliage covered quilting hoop arranging so that the bags overlap slightly. Repeat this process until all bags have been attached to the quilting hoop.

There you go my friends didn’t I tell you it was simple? Like really simple. Sure wrapping 25 bags might take a little time but honestly that was the most time consuming bit about this project. If you got hubby or another family member involved it can be done quick smart. I hope this project has inspired to make one of your own. If you do make sure you tag me over on Instagram or Facebook so I can see your creations too! I get a real kick out of seeing others create my projects!

If you have the hankering to make a wreath but an advent calendar version isn’t your cup of tea then I have two other wreath versions for you. I have a Rustic Sunburst Christmas Wreath tutorial over here…….

or if sticks aren’t your thing then i have a gorgeous Australian Native Christmas Wreath using foliage you can find around your garden. This one also has a video tutorial on how to create it! Hopefully I have got your covered with one of these wreath projects! :-)
